Pupil Premium

West Walsall E-ACT Academy receives some additional funding to provide extra support for learners who have not made the expected levels of progress since starting school at the age of 5.  This money is called the Pupil Premium and is targeted at those students who experience disadvantage in one form or another and must be used to narrow the attainment gap between identified groups of learners.

The academy is committed to raising aspiration and expectation for all its students but uses this additional funding, provided by the Department of Education, specifically to ensure that all available resources are in place to generate accelerated progress for eligible students.

In the academic year 2011-12, prior to its conversion to academy status, the predecessor school received £142,984 in Pupil Premium funding, rising to £270,600 in 2012-13.  In order to ensure that this money is allocated appropriately, we are required to publish how this money was spent in supporting our students.  The tables below provide details of the varied ways in which this funding is being used and the impact it is intended to have on learners in the targeted groups.
