Welcome to our Academy
I am delighted to introduce the West Walsall E-ACT Academy to you and would like to extend a very warm welcome from the staff and students. This website provides you with essential information on how our academy works; our values, beliefs and expectations and details of the curriculum that we know will engage and motivate learners of all abilities and aptitudes.
The academy is committed to providing the very best education for all our students through hard work, support and challenge. We value each and every student as an individual, regardless of gender, faith, ethnicity or ability and ensure that they are safe and supported in their studies. We expect all members of the academy to share these beliefs and make a clear commitment to giving of their best at all times, within the academy and in the surrounding community.
We have high expectations of all our students and demand the highest standards of behaviour and attendance at all times. Learners have a right to learn in a calm and supportive environment which stimulates the mind and pushes the boundaries of their understanding. The academy uniform is smart and functional and clearly demonstrates pride in what we stand for. The use of rewards is central to our positive philosophy and our on-line system, Vivo, allows students to take an active role in managing their achievements and selecting their own rewards.
Teaching builds on the foundation learning established at our partner primary schools and promotes an active engagement in the learning process through meaningful dialogue and interactive challenge. Lessons in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 8) focus on the development of knowledge and the acquisition of essential skills in a broad range of subjects and in particular in literacy and numeracy. Flexible pathways in Key Stage 4 (Years 9 to 11) allow all students to personalise their learning journey and follow areas of interest or expertise alongside studying in the essential core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.
The academy site is also the location of the Innovation Centre, a 21st century facility that combines the delivery of vocational learning with active business engagement. The Centre provides meeting rooms and training facilities for all members of our wider learning community and promotes collaboration between providers and learners from the age of 14 upwards.
I hope that the information contained in this prospectus is helpful and provides you with a true flavour of what we are committed to; achievement, challenge and support. Should you need further information, please come and visit our academy at any time and we will be happy to answer your questions.
We look forward to working with you in the future, knowing that together we can achieve excellence.
Principal, Andy Hubble
